Ribbon Cutting

An entry experience transitioned participants into the Think It Up gallery. An award winning interactive artwork by Dutch artist Daan Roosegaarde, DUNE, is composed of hundreds of strands that brighten according to the sounds and motions of visitors.

The museum experience is organized around thematic I CAN areas that provide rich role playing experiences that value imagination, fun, and learning.

In concert with the museums five year anniversary, the first exhibit area to be renovated was the mock grocery store, the Town Market. I secured a new home for the exhibitry that was removed - donating them to another Children’s Museum within the state of North Carolina.

Fabrication was performed by our in-house team. Primary materials used in construction were Baltic birch plywood, marmoleum, and aluminum.

New exhibition area provides more room for fresh foods over packaged foods - all produce are designed to be swapped out seasonally with concealed magnets on the individual graphic bins.

Four zones in the experience feature specimens from the musuem’s Collection. Here a team member installs specimen mounts for honey bees. above a display for flowers. This zone also featured a spin browser highlighting plant growth and food production. The honeycomb designed mounts were cut on the in-house laser cutter.

Digital Registers for “cashiers” and “customers” (sourced from Moey, Inc.). Backdrop wall of agricultural zones across the United States and localized to the Carolinas. CNC baltic birch plywood, stained, and completed with direct print graphics with specific foods.

Demonstration counter to facilitate experiences on how to mill wheat, make pasta, pickle and preserve your garden harvest in an effort to connect visitors with an understanding of food sources and how to achieve a diet.

A 13,000 square foot traveling exhibition that was experienced by over 700 people per day while on display at Discovery Place Science in Charlotte, NC. I led the planning, design, and installation which included the addition of several site specific enhancements such as this recreation of the Temple of Apollo that functioned as an entry and queuing portal.

Exhibition featured more than 250 artifacts that featured examples of ancient Rome’s artistry and craftsmanship.

This fresco was removed to travel in three sections. It once covered the back wall of the summer triclinium of the House of the Gold Bracelets in Pompeii.

Gallery of Roman artifacts from a wider span of time were added to this installation featuring objects from a local Collector.
